“Yuri Kochiyama: Passion For Justice,” At Maysles Cinema In Harlem

yuri-kochiyamaThrough extensive interviews with family and friends, archival footage, music and photographs, “Yuri” chronicles the Harlem native’s contributions to social change and participation in some of the most significant events of the 20th century. 

Screening followed by a talk-back session with representatives of “From Harlem with Love: A Mural for Yuri and Malcolm” – a group of artists and community activists inspired by the legacies of and deep friendship between Yuri Kochiyama and Malcolm X.
