The synagogue originally opened it’s doors in a 1890’s brick town house at West 123rd Street at Mount Morris Park West that was originally built for a baking-soda tycoon.
The Commandment Keepers were a sect of Black Hebrews, founded in 1919 by Nigerian-born Rabbi Wentworth Arthur Matthew.
