The rumors can be put to rest: Jets coach Rex Ryan will return next season.
There was speculation that Ryan might lose his head coaching position after the Jets missed the playoffs for a third straight year.
Ryan has one year left on his contract, and team owner Woody Johnson confirmed Sunday that he will be kept on for next season.
The Jets won their final game, ending the season 8-8 and knocking the Miami Dolphins out of playoff contention.
