This is a special Live Music & Art with Harlem Jazz legend Marjorie Eliot and Visual Artist Andrea Arroyo, in conjunction with the exhibition “The Women of Sugar Hill.”
Three unique Art Interventions, featuring Music Legend Ms. Marjorie Eliot, playing a piano tribute to Duke Ellington, and award-winning visual artist Andrea Arroyo drawing and painting live, as part of her site-specific art installation “The Women of Sugar Hill.” Artworks created during the event will become part of her ongoing exhibition featuring works on paper, fabric and mixed media – these ladies know how to do it!
Andrea Arroyo’s artwork honors the contributions, struggles and resilience of New York women and is inspired by the Women of Sugar Hill past and present, from the indigenous women of the Algonquin Nation and the female visionaries of the Harlem Renaissance to the present-day women of all backgrounds who make upper Manhattan such a diverse and vibrant community.
Exhibit on view through August 10, 2014.
Three Saturdays, July 12th, 19th & 26th, 4-6pm.
Free and open to the public.
