Want to take a last minute Harlem to Westchester staycation? Well, Empire City Casino is shining the spotlight on Aida Rodriguez, a comic who began her career as a model, and is best known for her appearance as a contestant on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Rodriguez, an American comedian of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent, is bringing her style, grace and loads of laughs to Westchester for Comedy Night at Empire City Casino in Yonkers, just a few miles north of the New York City border. The former IMG model turned activist is always able to look on the bright side, translating her life lessons into standup comedy routines.
Twice a month on Wednesdays, the casino’s Good Time Room hosts comedy fans at a Comedy Night featuring top-tier talent who have had their own television shows, appeared on the Late Night circuit, and who share their barrel of laughs across the country. Empire City Casino is usually a stop for many comedians on their way to New York City, giving the public the chance to see their favorite jokesters before they hit the Big Apple, and for a better bargain too.
Empire City’s comedy night will be held on Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 and will star Rodriguez, who intersects her passion for comedy with her purpose of being an activist for women’s’ empowerment.
Admission is a mere $5 for those who show their Empire Club cards, and includes a free drink. Don’t have a card? Get yours free at any promotions booth. For those who may not be club joiners, admission is still only $25. Doors for all shows open at 7 p.m. Laughs start at 8 p.m.
“With over eight million visitors a year, Empire City Casino is one of the largest entertainment and gaming destinations in the northeast,” said Taryn Duffy, director of public affairs at Empire City Casino. “In addition to top-notch comedy, Empire City features a casino floor larger than most in Las Vegas, live entertainment, DJ’s and fantastic dining options for our customers to enjoy.”
The special one-night comedy event on December 14th, will also feature New York City-born, current Venice Beach resident, Joe Praino, with Bronx native Petey Deabreu as an emcee for the evening. Previous comedians who have energized the crowd inside the casino’s doors include MTV’s Girl Code star Jessimae Peluso, RC Smith who is known as one of the best warm-up comics in the business, Richie Byrne who is the current warm-up act for The Dr. Oz Show and others.
