A notification has been issued on 1/21/16 at 6:10 PM. The National Weather Service has issued the following Coastal Flood Watches for various NYC areas. In addition to the timing and locations listed below, minor coastal flooding is also forecast during the Saturday morning high tide cycle.
Manhattan, Southern Queens, Brooklyn, & Staten Island: Coastal Flood Watch in effect from 6PM-11PM on 1/23 for coastal locations adjacent to the south shore of western and central Long Island and New York Harbor. Tidal departures are forecast to be three to four feet above normal. Beach erosion may occur.
Bronx, Northern Queens: Coastal Flood Watch in effect from 10PM on 1/23 to 1AM on 1/24 for coastal locations adjacent to the western and central Long Island Sound. Tidal departures are forecast to be three to four feet above normal.
During a Coastal Flood Watch, moderate coastal flooding is possible, including the potential for widespread flooding of vulnerable shore roads and/or basements.
