A new chapter in Harlem’s urban development is set to unfold as permits have been filed for a nine-story community facility building at 478 West 130th Street in Harlem, NY.
This project, spearheaded by Charles Carroll of Urban Resource Institute, aims to provide much-needed supportive housing in the heart of Manhattan.
Project Specifications
The proposed structure will stand 80 feet tall and encompass a total of 45,969 square feet dedicated to community facility space. The building will feature 84 supportive housing residences, with an average unit size of 547 square feet. Designed as a concrete-based structure, it will also include a cellar and a 32-foot-long rear yard, creating a functional environment for its residents.
Location and Accessibility
Situated between Amsterdam Avenue and Convent Avenue, the new facility will be strategically located near the 125th Street subway station. This prime location offers excellent connectivity, providing residents with access to the A, B, C, and D train lines, making commuting throughout Manhattan convenient.
Architectural Vision
Aufgang Architects, known for their creative and effective designs, has been enlisted as the architect of record for this project. The firm’s reputation for imaginative approaches that respond to changing market demands suggests that the new facility will be both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Development Timeline
While an estimated completion date has not been announced, the project is poised for a smooth start. As the lot is currently vacant, demolition permits will likely not be required, potentially expediting the initial phases of construction.
