Uptown To Downtown Actors Talk Espanol-Themes At BroadwayCon 2017

Actor/Director Luis Salgado, who currently plays Kenny Ortega in the Broadway production of “On Your Feet”, hosted a panel at BroadwayCon 2017.

The panel at BroadwayCon 2017 discussed production of Broadway shows in Spanish-language and development of Latino-themed shows, production partnerships; and multicultural and multiethnic creators and audience development on Broadway.

Panelists included:

  • Oscar-winning stage and screenwriter Alex Dinelaris (Birdman, On Your Feet),
  • Actress Doreen Montalvo (In The Heights, On Your Feet)
  • Actor/Producer/Director Andy Señor Jr. (On Your Feet, Off Broadway’s Rent and the Havana, Cuba Production of Rent)
  • Actor/Producer/Marketing Expert Javier E. Gomez (San Juan’s Spanish-language production of Speed-the-Plow and Spanish language tours of The Wiz and Man of La Mancha)
  • CNN’s Reporter Maria Santana

The panel was a collaboration between R.Evolucion Latina and BroadwayCon 2017. The panelists agreed on the potential of producing Latino-themed and Spanish-language Broadway shows on Broadway, and laid out potential business and production collaborations and formulas, to make it a reality. BroadwayCon 2017 took place Jan 27-29 at Jacob Javits Center.
