Yesterday, November 17th, 2017, at Holy Rood Church in Washington Heights, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez and Council Immigration Committee Chair Carlos Menchaca were joined by Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat, Assemblywoman Carmen De La Rosa, and community leaders.They came together to mark three months since Amanda Morales Guerra defied a federal deportation order and took refuge in an uptown church. Holy Rood Church has provided sanctuary to her and her family ever since. She is unable to leave for fear of being detained by ICE.
