NY Yimby reports that a new student residence is on the rise at 415 West 120th Street designed by architect Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel. Located in Morningside Heights, the property will rise 14 stories and contain 80 units for dedicated use by Columbia University.
Future residents will have a choice of one to three-bedroom layouts and access to a state-of-the-art fitness center, a study area with breakout rooms, a conference center, an outdoor terrace, bike storage, a package room, a coffee bar, a roof deck, and on-site security.
Developers PEBB Capital and TriArch Real Estate Group acquired the lot and an existing five-story dormitory in February 2018 for $20.3 million from The Jewish Theological Seminary. According to reports, the institution sold the property along with 262,000 square feet of unused air rights over the school’s campus to finance modernization of their Morningside Heights campus. The former dormitory has since been demolished.
