NYC Emergency Management has issued a travel advisory in expectation of snow and possible freezing precipitation tonight and into tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16th, 2024.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect citywide from 7 PM this evening until 1 PM EST tomorrow. 2-3 inches of steady light to moderate snowfall and ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible, with the bulk of snowfall ending mid-morning Tuesday. Up to 4 inches of snow is possible in the northern portions of the city.
Snow is expected to transition to a light mixed precipitation tomorrow morning, with potential freezing drizzle and instant icy surfaces during the mid to late morning hours. All precipitation is expected to end by the afternoon, however, the re-freezing of standing water and slush may produce patchy ice on roads and pedestrian walkways tomorrow evening.
New Yorkers are advised to exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking, and allow for additional travel time as roads and walkways may become slippery during the morning and evening commute. Use mass transit if possible.
