In the wake of a series of sexual misconduct lawsuits and the release of disturbing footage, Miami Beach has officially revoked Diddy Day, an honor once bestowed upon Sean “Diddy” Combs.
This decision was made by the Miami Beach Commission on June 26, 2024 without discussion, marking a significant fall from grace for the music mogul.
Diddy, who has been a prominent figure in Miami Beach‘s Star Island community, received the recognition from Mayor Philip Levine at a REVOLT conference in 2016.
However, mounting allegations and a recent video showing Diddy assaulting Cassie in 2016 have led to swift repercussions.
Federal agents raided Diddy’s Miami and L.A. homes in March, and earlier in June, he returned his key to New York City at Mayor Eric Adams’ request.
Adams condemned Diddy’s actions and expressed solidarity with survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.
Howard University also rescinded an honorary degree and ended a scholarship program in his name.
Diddy, who dated Cassie on-and-off from 2007 to 2018, has maintained his innocence but acknowledged his wrongdoing in the video.
Despite a quick settlement of Cassie’s lawsuit against him, the fallout continues, casting a long shadow over his legacy.
