The Affordable Sendero Verde Project In Harlem

June 7, 2018

As part of the 655-apartment affordable housing development that is set to take shape in East Harlem, developers Jonathan Rose Companies and L+M Development Partners are planning to create a 384-unit building at 1681 Madison Avenue.

According to The Real Deal, the building will rise 37 stories and will be a mixed-use project with about 318,000 square feet of residential space and 28,000 square feet of commercial space.

The building will be a part of the Sendero Verde complex, which is transforming a city-owned lot, between East 111th and 112th streets and between Madison and Park avenues, into a housing complex that will include a supermarket, an 85,000-square-foot charter school, a YMCA, job training center, a preventative health care facility operated by Mount Sinai, and space for East Harlem organization Union Settlement.

There will be 79 units within Sendero Verde preserved for seniors, while another 163 will remain permanently affordable under the city’s Mandatory Inclusionary Housing policy.
