Acclaimed talk show host Tavis Smiley’s eponymous program is coming to WHCR 90.3 FM, the City College of New York’s radio station known as “The Voice of Harlem.”
WHCR will be the only station in New York City to carry the weekend edition of the Tavis Smiley Show, which will broadcast Sundays from 6 to 8 pm.
“The Tavis Smiley Show will offer WHCR listeners news and information on a national level, which fits perfectly with WHCR’s mission to keep its listeners informed,” said Angela Harden, the station’s general manager.
The nationally syndicated Smiley Show features newsmakers, influencers, authors, artists, activists, and entrepreneurs.
WHCR is one of four new markets the show is expanding to, joining WOL 1450 AM in Washington D.C., WNOV 860 AM in Milwaukee, and KJMC 89.3 FM in Des Moines.
“Our show’s rapid and continued expansion into key media markets represents an exciting next chapter,” said Smiley. “As we move deeper into the 2024 election season, we’ll continue to provide our growing listener base with enlightening and empowering programming geared toward African Americans and other citizens of color.”
The Tavis Smiley Show also airs in other U.S. markets, including KBLA Talk 1580 AM (Los Angeles), WVON 1690 AM (Chicago), WURD Radio 900 AM/96.1 FM (Philadelphia), and WBOK 1230 AM (New Orleans).
