On December 15, 2024, Silent Voices United Inc., under the visionary leadership of Executive Director Tiffany Fulton, hosted its inaugural Multicultural Children’s Holiday Program, A Child’s Celebration of Light & Joy, at The Apollo Stages at The Victoria.
This historic event brought together families from across Harlem to celebrate cultural diversity through art, music, and giving.
The program, made possible by The Apollo Theater’s Cultural Forward Program, marked a significant step in fostering cultural appreciation and unity among children and families in the community.
Highlights of the Event
Attendees enjoyed a vibrant showcase of global traditions, featuring:
- African-American culture, presented by the powerful performances of The LaRocque Bey School of Dance.
- Chinese culture, brought to life by the artistry of Hello Mandarin.
- Mexican heritage, showcased through the dynamic and colorful movements of the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company.
- Classical holiday music, performed by the angelic voices of the New Amsterdam Boys & Girls Choir.
The celebration also included a culinary tour of Harlem’s rich food scene, featuring dishes from El Encanto De Lola (Mexican cuisine), Authentic Yemeni & Mediterranean, and Kum Kau (Chinese cuisine).
In the spirit of the holidays, children received free toys and books, as well as warm winter coats generously donated by social media influencer Daniels Leather NYC.
Community Sponsors and Partners
The event’s success was made possible through the generous support of:
- NYC Councilman Yusef Salaam, whose commitment to community upliftment aligns with the program’s mission.
- Manhattan Community Board 10 Chair, Hon. Marquis Harrison, a staunch advocate for cultural unity and community engagement.
- MetroPlus, supporting community wellness and inclusion.
- NYPD Community Affairs, fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the community.
- Fire Safety Education Program – FDNY Smart, providing essential fire safety resources to attendees.
A Message of Hope and Unity
“This program is a testament to the power of community and culture,” said Tiffany Fulton, Executive Director of Silent Voices United Inc. “It was more than a celebration—it was a chance for children and families to experience the beauty of our differences and the strength of our unity. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors and partners for making this dream a reality.”
