HYPOTHEkids, is Harlem Biospace’s K-12 STEM initiative, they run a summer program called the Hk Maker Lab in Harlem, New York.
Here’s how it works:
- 24 students will be competitively selected, high achieving, low income high school students come to the BME department at Columbia University for six weeks to learn bioengineering design and entrepreneurship
- Students work in teams to prototype and build a solution to a biomedical problem. In the following summer, students intern in the BME labs at Columbia or at Harlem Biospace start-ups
