On April 13th, 2015, he 10th Annual Skating with the Stars Gala A benefit gala for Figure Skating in Harlem took place in Manhattan. Normally held at the ice skating rink in Central Park, this year’s event was held at the fabulous event space 583 Park Avenue.
This year’s honorees were writer and activist Gloria Steinem, Olympic Ice Skating Champion Evan Lysacek, and Feld Entertainment’s Nicole, Alana, and Juliette Feld. While there was no ice skating this year, guests were treated to a performance by Dancing with the Stars’ Mirror Ball Champions Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Long time supporter of Figure Skating in Harlem, Tarma Tunie attended the gala. Some other arrivals included June Ambrose, Bevy Smith, Marcus Sameulson and Ivanka Trump.
FSH provides NYC girls with innovative skating and education programs that promote academic success, physical health, and emotional well-being. Recent graduates of the program have gone on to Brown University, Howard University, Boston College, and others. The proceeds from this year’s gala will help launch a new STEM program and implement a plan for expansion beyond New York.
