It was a great evening in Harlem’s Marcus Garvey Park on Tuesday August 7th, 2012. There was standing room only at SummerStage’s free concert.
The Glasper Experiment (Featuring Robert Glasper on piano, Casey Benjamin on vocoder and saxophone, Derrick Hodge on electric bass, and Chris Dave on drums) was the main attraction. A cross between Jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B and Funk, The Glasper Experiment entertained the beautiful Harlem audience with songs from their latest release Black Radio.
But before The Glasper Experiment got busy and delighted the crowd with a guest appearance from the talented Lalah Hathaway singing Cherish The Day, the up and coming singer AVERY*Sunshineset the night off. Sitting at her Yamaha keyboard, her powerful voice blew the everyone away.
The summer is not over! There are still some free SummerStage concerts coming up. Check the calendar.
