The BET Honors 2014 airs Monday February 24th on BET. This year’s honorees are The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, Motown Records Founder Berry Gordy, American Express CEO & Chairman Ken Chenault, Visual Artist Carrie Mae Weems and Entertainment Trailblazer Ice Cube. Held at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C. the Actor and Comedian Wayne Brady put his talents on display as the host of this extravaganza.
Big names in music performed to help pay tribute to this year’s honorees – Mariah Carey – and the much talked about low cut dress, Tamar Braxton, Janelle Monae, the legendary Smokey Robinson, Karen Clark Sheard, Jennifer Hudson and The Queen of Soul herself-Aretha Franklin touched the stage.
There are a number of highlights throughout the show. It was a moment for Hip Hop when Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges presented the Entertainment Award to O’Shea “Ice Cube” Jackson. Ice Cube has come from the days of N.W.A. to producing and acting in box office hits like Ride Along. Cube expressed his appreciation for the award and appreciation for his wife during his acceptance speech.
