SummerStage in conjunction with GlobeStar Media and WBLS presented the 4th Annual Free R&B Fest Concert in Central Park on Sunday August 12, 2012. The advertised performers were Kenny Lattimore, Q Parker of 112, Christopher Williams, Salt-n-Pepa and Eric Benet. In addition to the great talent, it is always interesting to see who pops up at these shows to hang out.
The show started on time with Kenny Lattimore doing some of his old songs as well as some new material from a coming release Back to Cool. On hosting duties from WBLS were radio personalities Dejavu, Eddie Love, Chubb Rock and the legendary Marley Marl.
Q Parker who started his solo career in 2012, added excited the ladies by removing his shirt. Further causing a stir, Q selected a lady from the audience to sit on stage as he sang Yes.
Singer Christopher Williams had the biggest surprise of the afternoon. He was introduced by fellow Mount Vernon native and Oscar Award Winning Actor Denzel Washington. Mr. Washington hung out on stage to check out Williams’ performance.
Rounding out the afternoon of performances, were the dynamic female duo of Rap Salt N Pepa and Eric Benet who closed the show.
