November 14, 2016

gen1Rosa and her family were shown Generosity NYC in a multi-charity 5K Run/Walk that took place on Sunday, November 13th, 2016 in New York City’s Riverside Park at 104th Street in Harlem, NY.gen-at-riverbank-park-in-harlemRosa came to NMIC at the suggestion of her sister, a former client. She had experienced years of verbal and sexual assault from her husband who would come home in a drunken jealous rage. NMIC staff helped Rosa to devise a safety plan that involved obtaining an order of protection requiring her husband to stay away from their home and children and ultimately filing for custody. NMIC also assisted Rosa with her NYCHA project based public housing application with DV Priority so she can have the option of relocating to a confidential new address. Finally, to help stabilize her family, Rosa worked with one of NMIC‘s immigration attorneys to apply for a U Visa.

gen2What’s great is that Generosity NYC features a professional pre-race warm-up and stretch, professional announcer, one of a kind race gear and just an amazing time with friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and other charitable individuals like you.
