Today December 7th, 2017, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, has expressed his concerns towards the regulation proposed by the Trump administration this past Tuesday allowing employers to control all tips made by food servers.
“This is another unnecessary attack from the White House against the working class of this country. It is unjust to tipped servers to give employers the power to dispose of tips they make with entire restaurant staff or keep them,” said Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez. “We need to be united and fight to keep Obama’s regulation that empowers restaurant workers earning below minimum wage. Servers who depend on tips should have the right to keep every single dollar they make.
“This proposal is underestimating the effort of workers that rely on tips earned to support their families and gives employers more power and advantages than what they already have. This administration is not working for the people.”
