Police are searching for an attempted rapist who followed a woman into her apartment building and attacked her.
It happened about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Central Harlem section of Manhattan, police said Friday.
A 41-year-old woman was sitting on the stoop outside her building when a man sidled up to her and started talking. She stood and went inside her building, but the man followed her. Once inside, he tried to rape her but the woman fought him off and the man ran away.
The attacker was caught on camera walking down the sidewalk.
Police are looking for a black male in his mid-20s who stands between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. The culprit was wearing black shorts and a green shirt with a number “4” on it at the time of the attack.
Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
