A great way to end the week long Harlem-Havana Educational & Cultural Festival is to come enjoy on Sunday 8/21 from 2-8pm a small but far-reaching 501(c)(3) Afro-Cuban Dance Company located in Harlem on 128th Street and Convent Avenue. Orfeo Antillano is hosting their 12th Annual BBQ Fundraiser & Performance in St. Nicholas Park at the 130th St. Terrace BBQ Area. Councilwoman Inez Dickens is coming by along with our Harlem community of friends and family. With the gracious support of Floridita, Manna, Papatzul (SoHo), Mofongo del Valle restaurant and $1 Depot, we have done it again.
With a unique artistic and authentic quality Orfeo Antillano Conjunto Folklorico Afro-Cubano is a powerful instrument for broadcasting and preserving our culture.
From the cultural point of view, the audience is going to enjoy a spectacle of riveting performances with cultural beauty. The company showcases a diverse repertoire of Folkloric and popular dances, distinctively Afro-Cuban in flavor. These dances embrace historic and religious legacies that our predecessors passed on to us as a proud source of culture, legacy and history.
From an educational point of view, audiences will learn even more about our culture through the message conveyed in the sensual music and the rhythm of the dance.
