NYC Chapter Of The Alzheimer’s Association Appoints New Fabulous Director of Communications

The Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter today announced the appointment of Harlem fave Chelsea-Lyn Rudder as director of communications.

Rudder will lead the development of communications strategy to enhance the impact of the New York City Chapter of The Alzheimer’s Association, the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

“Chelsea-Lyn is a skilled communications professional with deep knowledge of New York City’s media landscape,” said Christopher Smith, executive director of The Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter. “We want all New Yorkers impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia to know about our services and programs. Chelsea-Lyn’s background and experience in health care communications will help The Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter, to further that goal.”

“It is an honor to join an organization that is deeply committed to eliminating one of the most destructive diseases of our time,” said Chelsea-Lyn Rudder. “My father developed dementia after having a stroke. I understand many of the challenges that caregivers and loved ones face. I look forward to helping New Yorkers learn more about the great programs that the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter offers throughout the community.”

Prior to joining the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter, Rudder served as a communications director and press secretary for NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public health care system in the nation. Rudder is an author and has acted as a spokesperson for health care, labor, political and government organizations. She is a former executive director of the New York City Council’s Black, Latino and Asian Caucus.  Miss Rudder holds a M.S. in Global Affairs from New York University and a B.A. in Communications and Political Science from Pace University.
