Last week was a great New York Urban League’s 5th Annual Girls Empowerment Day on Friday, March 7, 2014 in New York City.
For the last four years over 375 young women from Harlem and across New York City that have had the opportunity to explore career options and interact with professional women at the top of their field in Corporate America.
The girls have gained inspiration and learned lessons on how to succeed in their own lives as they visited the offices of United Parcel Services (UPS).
After attendees completed the office tours, the “Beautiful Me” program concluded with a panel discussion on beauty and self love.
The panel was moderated by Vanessa K. Bush, Editor-in-Chief of Essence Magazine and will feature Miko Branch, Co-Founder of Miss Jessie’s Products; Devyn Abdullah, Model and winner of Oxygen Networks’ “The Face” and New York Urban League President & CEO, Arva Rice. The event was followed by the Women in Power Showcase, highlighting women in leadership in the private and public sector.
