The index ranks 30 countries around the globe according to the number of vineyards, wine tasting experiences, especially since the United States ranked 2nd place with the Most Wine Tasting Experiences in the World, and wine awards as well as the cost of meals and travel to find the destinations that offer the best value for money.
Here are the countries that made it to the top 3:
- Italy is the best wine country in the world: With the overall highest score at 7.84/10, Italy ranks as the number one destination for vineyards, and offer the most wine tasting experiences with 993 experiences to choose from.
- France 2nd with most wine awards: France holds the most wine awards, with 28,872 awards received for their wine. That’s 9,800 awards more than Italy!
- Spain 3rd with the cheapest flight tickets: Spain is the best option for budget travelers in the top 3, with the lowest average price of flights at £51.54.
