MTA Chair Lieber Visits Coney Island DFNQ Station For National Night Out

August 6, 2024

It wasn’t the 125th Street Train Station in Harlem, but we like the vibe of MTA Chair/CEO Janno Lieber and MTA Chief Customer Officer Shanifah Rieara visiting the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue, NY station.

They visited the subway station to celebrate National Night Out located within NYPD Transit District 34.

The MTA leaders thanked officers at the end-of-line station for keeping the subway system safe and spoke with riders at the terminal.

The leaders also thanked City workers for distributing information about the Fair Fares program, which allows eligible customers to receive a 50% discount on subway, bus or Access-A-Ride fares.

NYPD is the essence of great policing,” said Chair Lieber. “They do a great job every day, particularly the Transit Bureau who are making a huge difference – subway crime in New York is way down. New Yorkers and transit riders need to feel safe and it’s because of the NYPD we’re getting there. We’re so grateful to the Transit Bureau and these great NYPD officers for their dedication to serve riders.”

National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, and more caring places to live.

National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

It also provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. https://tinyurl.com/3j9fccup

Editor’s note: We’re looking forward to MTA Chair Lieber’s visit to one of the MTA stations in Harlem, NY.
