The Morris-Jumel Mansion is excited to unveil a new exhibition titled “Faces & Façades” featuring the work of award-winning local artist Andrea Arroyo.
The exhibition will open on October 19, 2024, and will run until March 23, 2025.

Exhibition Overview
“Faces & Façades” showcases new artworks by Arroyo, serving as a tribute to the uptown community and the women who play a vital role in it. The paintings blend organic and non-organic forms, drawing inspiration from both the female body and the architectural features of uptown buildings.
Arroyo’s artistic process includes photographing unique architectural elements—such as arched doorways and ornate iron gates—which form the basis for her intricate paintings. This exhibition highlights her improvisational approach, where she engages with her community while creating what she describes as “lyrical documentation.”

About Andrea Arroyo
Andrea Arroyo is an internationally recognized artist known for her work in painting, sculpture, installation, and public art. Her pieces are part of prestigious collections including the National Museum of American History and the Smithsonian Institution. Arroyo has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including awards from The New York Women’s Foundation and recognition as Outstanding Woman of New York.
