2015 Big Apple Award winner Marc Wilson, founder and Creative Director of MWD Lifestyles and Weddings by MWD Lifestyles, wraps up a year of producing and designing events for top names that include One World Observatory, Hirshhorn, First Protocol, Central Park Conservancy, Plaza Athenee and the New York Air Society.
Wilson, known for his reputation in overall event design, upscale floral components and “wow factors” for events, has grown to be a name in event design that embraces its Harlem roots, its creative affinity and philanthropy. In 2015 Wilson and his team contributed design and decor elements for the first annual fundraiser for We All Matter, and Materials for the Arts.
In 2016 Wilson endeavors to become more active in support of local non-profits and cause-based initiatives to include raising funds and awareness for the Textbook Stipend Project (TSP), a Project Brownstone educational initiative. Through a year-long effort, Wilson will support college students in Harlem through the local 501(c)3 founded by Earl Davis. With an affinity for fine art, Wilson will also join the West Harlem Arts Fund as a presenter for the workshop and class series in Spring 2016.
Wilson states: “2015 has been a great year, in part because of the way we work and live in order to thrive and support causes we care about are now so closely related to our day-to-day experiences. Paving a road for others, as a road was paved for me, is at the very foundation of what has made MWD Lifestyles and Weddings by MWD Lifestyles successful for the last eighteen years. As a brand that’s been in business this long, team building and community building are is something we just couldn’t do without.”
The year 2015 yielded Wilson’s company preferred vendor event partnerships with One World Observatory and MWD Lifestyle’s role as the new in-house design team for Plaza Athenee. Weddings by MWD Lifestyles, Wilson’s wedding brand, has joined the MunaLuchi Coterie and will launch a wedding concierge. MWD Lifestyles plans on expanding its sites to include the Atlanta market, said to be a $12 billion hospitality industry. Wilson foresees an increase of destination events for the year to come and continues to develop an MWD Lifestyles home collection set to launch in the coming year.
