Lottery For 15 Affordable East Harlem Units Accepting Applications

Applications are currently being accepted to enter an affordable housing lottery for 15 units in a newly constructed East Harlem building. The building, located at 69 East 125th Street between Madison and Park Avenue, is renting studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments at rates below market value.

The cheapest units, four one-bedroom apartments, will rent for $654 per month and will be open to individuals earning less than $38,100 or families of two earning less than $43,500, according to the city’s Housing Connect website. The three studios will rent for $659 and be open to individuals earning less than $38,100. The eight two-bedroom apartments will rent for $797 and be open to families of two earning less than $43,500, families of three earning less than $48,960 and families of four earning less than $54,360.

Prospective tenants can apply for the housing lottery online using the Housing Connect website. Applications must be submitted by March 29, 2017 and there will be no fee to apply. Additionally a mail-in application can be received by sending a self-addressed letter to: Harlem125, c/o Housing Partnership Development Corporation, 242 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10018.

The apartment building includes amenities such as a rooftop deck, a 24/7 virtual doorman, a gym, washer and dryer units in the one- and two-bedroom apartments, a laundry room and bicycle storage, according to Housing Connect.

Fifty percent of the units will be prioritized for people living in Manhattan Community Board 11, which covers much of East Harlem. An additional 5 percent will be prioritized for city employees as well as 5 percent for mobility-disabled applicants and 2 percent for vision- or hearing-disabled applicants.
