January 2, 2025

Tony Award legend/multi-Grammy nominee and Harlemite Melba Moore starts off the new year as she heads to the West Coast to guest star in the Gospel-inspired play, “Heavenbound”.

The musical will be staged at the Wilshire Ebell Theater, 4401 West 8th Street in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, January 11th,2025. Showtime is at 7 pm Pacific time.  Fellow hitmaker Kenny Lattimore will co-star.

Written, directed and presented by Don B. Welch, “HEAVENBOUND” tells the tale of six individuals who have passed on and meet in a place called Almost-In-Heaven. They are sent there to audition of the Beams of Heaven Gospel choir, which requires one to give their life’s testimony and/or a song as well as how they lived their life on earth. But the task is not an easy one as these auditioners are given one last and unexpected test of their faith.

Ms. Moore is looking forward to being on stage with this new one-night-only production. “The play brings together my many strengths,” she reveals. “My longtime work in plays and musicals, dating back to my years on Broadway in ‘Hair’, ‘Purlie’, ‘Timbuktu!’ and ‘Les Miserables’ – as well as my roots in Gospel music and R&B. It’ll be great to be working with Don, Kenny and the cast.”

Tickets are available at the Wilshire Ebell Theater box office. For more information, call 323.939.1128 or click here for Eventbrite
