Join In Supporting The Rodney King Scholarship On Today’s Anniversary Of The LA Riots

April 29, 2019

Today marks the 27th anniversary of The Los Angeles Riots, which were sparked by the beating of Rodney King.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of meeting Rodney King’s daughter, Lora King. She is launching a scholarship to celebrate African American fathers who are active in their children’s lives.

Starting today, any African American father can go to RodneyKing.org and apply to receive the scholarship. The scholarship will pay for the recipients to spend a day doing something fun with their kids!

Lora was only 7 years old when her father was beaten nearly to death by the police. Despite everything that happened to Rodney King, he was an incredible father to Lora and her siblings. This scholarship is Lora’s way of shining a light on African American fathers and holding them up as an example.

The LA Times is breaking this news today as well, in addition to multiple prominent publications. I’m so excited to be able to share this with you.

If you’d like to get involved in supporting this important scholarship and positive message, send an email to my friend Joshua Jordison. He is Lora’s manager and close friend who is helping to bring this all together. You can reach him directly at: joshuaLjordison@gmail.com.

Some of the ways you can get involved include:

  1. Posting on social media about the scholarship.
  2. Donating directly to the scholarship at RodneyKing.org
  3. Helping to connect Lora and her manager to potential strategic brand partners, celebrities or influencers who can support the scholarship.
  4. Whatever you think you’re amazing at and would like to do to help.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Sincerely,
