Johnny Manziel, A Harlem Globetrotter (video)?

June 24, 2014

“We like to think outside the box with our draft, so we look at all different kinds of athletes that could have the qualities of a Harlem Globetrotter,” said Sweet Lou Dunbar, the Globetrotters’ director of player personnel. “Johnny Manziel is a fantastic athlete that knows how to be entertaining. ‘Johnny Basketball’ has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

The Globetrotters consider Manziel “one of the most electrifying athletes on the planet.”

In late March, Manziel made headlines after posting video on his Instagram account that shows him dunking at the Cox-McFerrin Center on the Texas A&M Campus.

The pick by the Globetrotters is more ceremonial than anything else. Manziel hasn’t played competitive basketball since the eighth grade. So, don’t expect him to be touring the country tossing water buckets, full of confetti, into the stands.

In June, even though he hasn’t played competitive basketball since the eighth grade.

Manziel, who is projected by some analysts to be the Number 1 pick in the NFL Draft in May, posted a video on his Instagram account that shows him dunking at the Cox-McFerrin Center on the Texas A&M Campus.

In the video, the former TEXAS A&M quarterback and 2013 Heisman Trophy winner performs four dunks.
