Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment Commissioner Cynthia López and NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, announce the free screening of the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom to kickoff the City’s ‘Movies under the Stars’ community program.
The launch, which will feature the documentary’s director, producer, and young participants from the film.
The documentary, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, will be one of 150 screenings that will be shown in parks throughout the five boroughs in an effort to provide New Yorkers with increased access to cultural programming in their communities. Additional screenings featuring documentaries, independent films, and short films showcasing New York communities will take place through September and October.
