On Thursday, January 7, 2016, true Southern hospitality was in Hollywood to celebrate the spirit of the Kentucky Derby with the by-invitation-only Unbridled Eve Derby Prelude Party with Presenting Sponsor Delta Dental at the London West Hollywood, Ca.
In addition to great food, specialty cocktails, a bourbon tasting, and Derby Pie, the Prelude Party serves as a kickoff and introduction to the Kentucky Derby and the Unbridled Eve Derby Gala, which takes place the first weekend in May in Louisville, KY.
Proceeds from the Unbridled Eve Prelude Party benefit the Unbridled Charitable Foundation, a 501 c3 charitable organization, founded by sisters Tammy York Day and Tonya York Dees. The largest fundraiser is the Unbridled Eve Derby Gala, in Louisville, Kentucky on the eve of the Kentucky Derby.
Primary beneficiary, Blessings In A Backpack currently feeds nearly 83,694 children in 900 schools in 46 U.S. States. Since its inception in 2012, the Unbridled Eve Derby Gala has raised over $500,000 for Blessings in a Backpack, the LES Turner ALS Foundation, as well as 15 other charities.
Celebrities included longtime supporters: Bob Guiney, Warren Moon, Linda Thompson, Jason Felts and Bonnie-Jill Laffin; Daniel Baldwin, Cheech Marin, Cody Saintgnue, Don Most, Coach Denny Crum, Eva La Rue, Elizabeth Shatner, Gren Wells, Jimmy James-Louis, Judd Nelson, Julio Iglesias Jr., Quinton Aaron, Kate Flannery, Kelly Price, Kevin Olusola (Grammy Award Winning Pentatonic, performer at Unbridled Eve Prelude Party), Kim Coles, Kym Whitley, Leann Hunley, Lydie Cornell, Molly Culver, Obba Babatunde, Omarosa, Patrika Darbo, Sean Kanan, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Sheree Fletcher and award-winning jockeys and Derby enthusiasts such as:Charles and Doris Dickens and James Valentine, CC Parkinson, Daniel Alameda and Darrell Craig Davis.
In addition to delicious food and fine bourbon tasting courtesy of Bulleit Bourbon, guests also had the opportunity to taste traditional Derby Pie shipped in from Kerns Kitchen, admire the festive hats and fascinators, while enjoying music by DJ Vice.
Kevin Olusola, from the Grammy Award Winning group Pentatonix, performed Stephen C. Foster’s “My Old Kentucky Home” as well as a few of his own original hits.
Guests who attended the Unbridled Eve Derby Prelude Party received the Official 2016 Mint Julep glasses from Churchill Downs.
The Unbridled Eve Gala will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 the Galt House Hotel & Suites in Louisville.
