David Babaii: Celebrity Hair Stylist.
HW: When and where was your business established?
DB: 12 years ago in Paris, France.
HW: Who is your demographic?
DB: Celebrities and women of all ages, ethnicities and income.
HW: With Fashion Week 2012 next month, any hair tips for our readers?
DB: The first thing would be to keep your hair in top condition with regular 6-week trims or even just a dusting! It’s all about maintaining your hair. Before styling always start with clean hair! Use the right shampoo and conditioner and rinse it out thoroughly. Use styling products for your hair type and always use a great treatment product to nourish and protect i.e. Miracle Oil Hair Elixir.
Never overwork your hair. Nothing worse than over-processed, over peroxide hair. Keep it gloriously natural and healthy.
Never overwork your hair. Nothing worse than over-processed, over peroxide hair. Keep it gloriously natural and healthy. And last, use good styling tools that offer a safer alternative – never use tools that will damage or burn your hair!
HW: What’s unique about what you do?
DB: My celebrity clients listen to my recommendations. As a hair stylist, I understand to make a hairstyle look good you need a great canvas to work off of. Meaning, you need to have healthy hair. Healthy hair is the foundation of great styling and you get healthy hair from nutrients. Unfortunately, you can’t always get the nutrients you need from the food you eat. I experienced this problem. My hair was thinning and I found out from my doctor that I wasn’t getting the proper nutrients, so I started taking Viviscal and it worked. My hair became thicker. I now recommend it to all my clients who want to thicken or grow their hair. It’s an amazing product that many of my clients use including Olivia Wilde.
HW: As a “Celebrity Hair Stylist” who are some of your clients?
DB: My work (hair styling) appears on runways and on the covers of leading fashion publications from around the world such as Vogue, Elle, InStyle, Allure, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and W. My clientele include A-list celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Britney Spears, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Demi Moore, Eva Longoria, Eva Mendes, Goldie Hawn, Gwyneth Paltrow, Heidi Klum, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Joan Allen, Julianne Moore, Kate Beckinsale, Kate Bosworth, Kate Hudson, Kate Winslet, Katherine Heigl, Katie Holmes, Keira Knightley, Kim Kardashian, Lucy Liu, , Nicole Kidman, Nicole Richie, Rachel Bilson, Rachel McAdams, Reese Witherspoon, Rosario Dawson, Ryan Reynolds, Sandra Bullock, Sarah Jessica Parker, Scarlett Johansson, Selma Blair and Uma Thurman.
HW: Is there any “cause” work you’re doing?
DB: I worked with Kate Hudson (picture above) to create a hair care line called David Babaii for WildAid. A percentage of proceeds goes to the nonprofit WildAid. WildAid is a wonderful organization whose mission is to end illegal wildlife trade.
HW: What do you like about Harlem?
DB: I have often gone to photo shots in Harlem. Harlem has an amazing atmosphere. It is very eclectic place. The food is great and the people are really nice. I always have a good time there.
HW: Where is your business located?
DB: I’m located at Tracy Mattingly, 110 Greene Street, Suite 501, New York, NY 10012 and you can check us out at www.traceymattingly.com.
HW Thank you.
DB: Thank you.
