Homeless Children Experience The Magic Of Toy Stores From Harlem To Hollywood

December 3, 2021

Win, New York City’s largest provider of shelter and support services for homeless women and their children, has teamed up with Target and other companies to provide gifts to homeless children this holiday season.

Over the past month, Win has set up pop-up toy stores at shelters across Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Upper Manhattan.

…deliver more than 6,000 toys to 18 Win sites from Harlem to Hollis.

Children can ‘shop’ up to two gifts that are separated by age group. Win set up online registries and is working with Target, as well as Piece of Cake Moving, to gather, store, and deliver more than 6,000 toys to 18 Win sites from Harlem to Hollis.

An extra bit of holiday sparkle: Target volunteers from stores across the city are also helping set up festive pop-up shops and wrap gifts for families.

These gifts were made possible by generous donations from community members.

For anyone who would like to donate to the toy drive and give to the families living at Win this holiday season, please visit the donation website here.

“Every child deserves to experience the magic and joy of the holiday season,” said Christine Quinn, President and CEO of Win, “During these difficult times, we’re so thankful to our partners at Target, Piece of Cake, and the thousands of donors who came together to help us spread holiday cheer to children in shelter when they need it most. Thanks to their generosity, kids at Win will have new toys to brighten their holidays.”

“Target is proud to partner with WIN, thinking outside the “Toy Box” to have all donations delivered and stored at the Target Elmhurst location. Our entire New York Metro store volunteer teams were so excited to be able to bring “JOY” to so many children and families this Holiday Season,” said Kelly McGarrity, Elmhurst Target Store Director of Community Engagement and Volunteerism.

Win operates 13 family shelters and over 400 supportive housing units across New York City.

Win served nearly 9,200 homeless people – including more than 5,000 children.
