Christmas-tree MulchFest 2011, the weekend-long event that gives NYC a way to turn their Christmas trees into mulch for the parks, will take place on January 8th and 9th, and tree drop-off is kicking off this week.
Bring your old holiday tree (after removing lights and ornaments) to the drop-off location anytime up to the weekend-long mulching event and have it recycled to wood chips that will be used for public spaces (or offered for you to bring home). If you don’t feel like bringing your tree to a park for MulchFest, stay tuned… the Dept. of Sanitation will announce 2011 dates and guidelines for curbside pickup of your tree for recycling.
MulchFest, Saturday, January 8th and Sunday, January 9th, Central Park North @ 106th Street and 5th Avenue (and locations throughout the city)
