Harry BelafonteLincoln Center announces today that it will live-stream a special all-star line-up including Harlem fave  Harry Belafonte at the Memorial Concert for Pete and Toshi Seeger on Sunday, July 20 at 4:00 p.m. ET. The concert, presented by Lincoln Center Out of Doors in association with Seeger Fest, honors the legacies of Pete and his wife Toshi Seeger, recognized for how they transformed the way we listen to American folk music and their work in social justice and activism for grassroots environmental change. Pete Seeger is associated with some of the most iconic American folk songs including “If I Had A Hammer,” “We Shall Not Be Moved,” and “Turn, Turn, Turn.” The free live-stream feed, hosted by NY1’s Budd Mishkin, will be available internationally at LincolnCenter.org/watch and seegerfest.org, and remain accessible through Monday, July 21.

This special memorial concert event was organized by Pete and Toshi Seeger’s grandson, Kitama Cahill-Jackson, as part of the five-day Seeger Fest celebration of their life and work. The all-star line-up of artists and speakers who had a close personal relationship with the Seegers include Judy Collins, Harry Belafonte, Dar Williams, Dan Zanes, Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary, Holly Near, as well as Adira and David Amram, Tom Chapin and The Chapin Sisters, Guy Davis, Emma’s Revolution, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion, Kim & Reggie Harris, Fred Hellerman with Work o’ the Weavers, Hudson River Sloop Singers, The Owens Brothers, Martha Redbone, The Vanaver Caravan, Paul Winter Consort, and other members of the Seeger family. Pete Seeger performed at Lincoln Center on a number of occasions over the years, with his last appearance in 2008.

In honor of Pete Seeger’s love of audience sing-alongs, Lincoln Center is inviting audiences online to take part in a global online sing-along. A song will be selected later this week for the sing-along, and lyrics will be available on screen. Audiences can sing along and share their video rendition of the selected song via #LCOutOfDoors. Further details will be announced later this week.
