On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Carthage Real Estate Advisors will host a grand ribbon-cutting event for Marcus Garvey Village in Harlem, NY.
The largest affordable housing development in Central Harlem in over a decade.
The event promises to draw a crowd of elected officials, celebrities, and community leaders, all eager to witness this transformative moment in Harlem’s history.
Harlem’s Largest Affordable Housing Project in a Decade
Marcus Garvey Village, located at 212 West 124th Street, currently consists of two multifamily properties, with a third phase planned for completion in 2026. Developed by Carthage Real Estate, this project exemplifies the company’s mission to provide affordable, thoughtfully designed housing in Central Harlem.
Designed in partnership with Body Lawson Associates Architects & Planners and Fischer + Makooi Architects—both MBE firms—this project brings affordable, high-quality living spaces to the heart of Harlem.
A New Standard in Affordable Housing
The new 20-story tower being unveiled at the event is home to 171 light-filled studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. With amenities such as a resident’s outdoor deck and performance space, the building is designed to foster community and cultural engagement.
Residents will also have access to the Bill Perkins Community Room and Terrace on the second floor—a space dedicated to community organizations and nonprofits, honoring the legacy of the former state senator and councilmember.
A Cultural Hub: The Marcus Garvey Gallery
Adding to the development’s unique appeal is the Marcus Garvey Gallery, located at the building’s lobby level. Curated by Good Black Art, this gallery will feature rotating exhibitions with works from artists around the world, creating a dynamic cultural experience for both residents and the local community.
