Harlem Resident Marquita Chosen Out Of Thousands To “Live Anywhere On Airbnb” For A Year

August 3, 2021

In June 2021, Airbnb announced that it was seeking 12 people from Harlem to Harare to live exclusively in Airbnb listings for approximately one year.

All paid for by Airbnb, as part of the “Live Anywhere on Airbnb” program.

Today, Airbnb has shared that it has selected those 12 inspiring individuals to live anywhere on Airbnb, out of more than 314,000 applicants globally.

One of those lucky participants is Marquita, who hails from right here in Harlem.

A self-proclaimed “Jill of many media trades,” Marquita is a seasoned journalist who has turned her passion for people, creativity, and uncovering stories in overlooked places into a successful freelance career.

She’ll take advantage of the flexibility that writing and editing offer to travel solo around the world (and write about her experiences along the way!).

Along with living on Airbnb, the participants will share their experiences with Airbnb along the way to help inform future product upgrades and innovations on the platform to better accommodate nomadic living.
