February 3, 2020

Representative Adriano Espaillat from Harlem will host his second annual Dominicans on the Hill, a day at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, February 6th, 2020. During the one-day event, Dominican-Americans from communities around the nation will attend workshops on issues that include topics such as the 2020 census, the state of judiciary affairs, and the role and impact of Dominicans throughout arts, sports, entertainment and culture.

“Dominican-Americans are the fifth-largest Latinx group in the United States and have a growing presence in communities around the nation,” said Rep. Espaillat. “With our growing population and representation across the U.S., it remains vital that Dominican-Americans and individuals of Dominican descent have an opportunity to let their voices be heard on the issues and concerns facing their communities around the nation.”

First elected to Congress in 2016, Rep. Espaillat is serving his second term in Congress where he serves as a member of the influential U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the House Small Business Committee. He serves as a Senior Whip of the House Democratic Caucus and is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) where he also serves in a leadership role as CHC Whip. He is also chairman of the CHC Task Force for Transportation, Infrastructure and Housing. Rep. Espaillat’s Congressional District includes Harlem, East Harlem, northern Manhattan and the north-west Bronx. To find out more about Rep. Espaillat at https://espaillat.house.gov/.
