Patch reports that residents of a 35-story apartment building in West Harlem were evacuated after afire broke out on the building’s 25th floor, an FDNY spokesman and local city councilman said.
The fire broke out at 333 Broadway, known as the Riverside Park Community building located between West 133rd and 135th streets, shortly after 5 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said. Firefighters placed the blaze under control by 5:38 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.
Flames were seen shooting out of a window of the apartment building, according to photos and videos posted to social media by witnesses.
Nobody was injured during the fire, an FDNY spokesman said. Some residents did have to evacuate the building as firefighters operated on scene, City Councilman Mark Levine said on Twitter.
Twenty fire units consisting of 78 fire personnel worked on the scene of the fire Friday, an FDNY spokesman said.
