No company loves our troops more than Harlem World Magazine, on October 27, 2016, the United Service Organizations (USO) celebrated its 75th Anniversary on the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum with an event. The event brought together athletes, entertainers, military service members, veterans and USO supporters. Attendees included New York Giants Running Back Rashad Jennings, television series Gotham actor and Marine veteran JW Cortes, seven-time EMMY Award winning filmmaker Peter Schnall, former Joint Chief of the Army General George Casey, tap dancing legend Arthur Duncan, USO CEO JD Crouch and Michael Sneed – Johnson & Johnson Worldwide Vice President, Global Corporate Affairs.
The event, made possible by Johnson & Johnson, included the NYC premiere screening of PBS documentary film, USO – For The Troops – an independent documentary produced and directed by seven-time EMMY Award winner Peter Schnall and Partisan Pictures – airing on PBS November 7th, 2016. USO – For The Troops traces the USO’s history as a connection to home and hope for service personnel for over 75 years, and includes interviews with recent and past performers including Jon Stewart, Jay Leno, Ann-Margret, Raquel Welch, Connie Stevens, country singer Craig Morgan, Miss America Betty Cantrell. #USOpbs
To join the USO in this important mission that strengthens America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. As of June 18, 2016 the USO deployed 34 celebrity entertainers on 13 tours to 10 countries and 10 states, and entertained more than 38,711 service members and military families. Four of these tours were to a combat zone.
