The NY Post reports that a newly elected member of the Community Education Council (CEC) in Harlem was captured at a public meeting flipping the bird.
Ayishah Irvin, 45, showed “a lack of professionalism and respect for this council,” PTA mom Diane Tinsley complained to Department of Education officials. Tinsley noted that Irvin was next to a student.
In an e-mail response to Tinsley, Irvin insisted she meant the gesture for the photographer. “I asked her not to take pictures of me that day, so it most definitely was strictly to her and no one else,” she said.
The CECs are advisory bodies that evaluate educational programs.
