Harlem Cultural Archives: “We Live In Harlem, The Work of Yasuo Wakaiki” (Video)

In the eighties, a young Yasuo Wakaiki visited Harlem from Japan for what was initially intended to be a short stay, the visit would turn out to last over a decade and yield an incisive body of work that chronicled the Harlem of the time.

He always wanted to have a show in Harlem, and while he is no longer able to travel due to illness, his work has made the trip around the globe in his stead.
