A 6-year-old Harlem boy covered in bruises died after being rushed to the hospital by his mother, police said Tuesday.
Police got a call from the apartment of little Zymere Perkins on W. 135th St. near Broadway at about 2:20 p.m. Monday saying the boy was unconscious, officials said.
By the time cops arrived, the boy’s mother had already taken him to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital, where he died.
“It’s just a tragedy. That’s all I can say,” said Nicole Cucci, 33, a lifelong resident of the building.
She added that Zymere lived there with his mother and her partner. She condemned the mom if she had anything to do with the boy’s death.
“As a parent, you’re supposed to protect your child, not be the one to do them harm,” Cucci said. “As a parent, if you did this to your kid, you should rot in hell. If either of them had something to do with this, they should rot in hell.”
There were no immediate arrests. The city medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how Zymere died.
