Harlem And Hempstead Youth Embark On 100th Salvation Army Camp Journey

July 6, 2023

For the 100th year, children throughout New York are gearing up for friendship and fun at The Salvation Army Greater New York Division’s Star Lake Camp in Bloomingdale, NJ.

Campers will take part in programs to match their interests – including STEM, Music Camp, Mega Sports, and Conservancy. Campers will be able to participate in activities many have never done before, like swimming in a lake, making new friends from different parts of New York, and obtaining mentorship and leadership from seasoned counselors.

The Salvation Army is the largest provider of free music education in the country, offering campers great music opportunities.

The camp will also provide much-needed socialization and activities for seniors (55+) who otherwise might be isolated.

The event will take place on Monday, July 3, 2023, in Harlem and in Hempstead at The Salvation Army Harlem Temple Corps – 540 Lennox Avenue and The Salvation Army Hempstead Citadel Corps – 65 Atlantic Ave. Hempstead, N.Y.
