A ground-breaking ceremony has been held for the planned 26-story, 191-unit mixed-use redevelopment of the Victoria Theater, located at 233 West 125th Street in Harlem. Photos of the ceremony can be seen thanks to a Curbed NY report. The latest building permits indicate the project will encompass 375,187 square feet and rise 300 feet to its rooftop.
The first four floors, which will retain the original Victoria Theater building, will contain a mix of 30,000 square feet of retail and 25,000 square feet of cultural space. The fifth through 26th floors will feature 191 residential units and a 210-key Renaissance Hotel by Marriott. The residential units should average 900 square feet apiece.
Danforth Development, Lam Group, and Exact Capital are the developers. Aufgang Architects is responsible for the architecture. Completion is expected in 2019.
